I attended the PayPal freelancer community summit
happened just few hours earlier. The registration started at 1PM and
the program started at 2PM. It was held in The Manila Peninsula hotel
located in Makati CIty, Philippines.
While waiting for my turn in the registration line, I took some
photos and made myself busy on looking around the inside structures of
the hotel.
Below are some photos I took while waiting in the line.
When the program started. The first speaker was the general manager
of PayPal for Southeast Asian countries. He discussed the advantages of
using PayPal such as security of payment and funds, and being globally
trusted by lots of businesses. He also mentioned that PayPal partnered
with G-cash for Filipinos to be able to get hold of their funds quickly
to almost instantly. It is just through downloading the Gcash
application, registering and verifying the Gcash account and then
linking it to your PayPal account.
It was mentioned that this is the very first PayPal Freelancer
Community Summit ever held and they chose Philippines for it. It was
because of the very large amount of freelance service providers here in
the Philippines and it is still growing as more and more are being aware
of the online jobs available and the possibility of really earning from
it. Even those who works in the corporate, they still have side lines
or part times doing freelancer jobs online.
Below is a photo showing the number of freelancer service providers in the Philippines.
I wonder how many of those freelancers are also here on Steemit or aware of this site. :)
Another speaker discussed about the PayPal freelancer community
program which include series of seminars for the Filipino freelancers
starting this September. Some goals of these seminars are to make
freelancers avoid being isolated for working at home alone, to learn
new techniques on how to improve freelancing skills and, to make the
community bigger and closer.
There were other four speakers in this event. All of them are
Filipino freelancers who were able to gain success on working online for
years. They shared their experiences, struggles and successes on their
online freelancing world journey. They have given valuable tips and
ideas such as having an emergency funds since freelancing income is
considered as unstable and having realistic goals when starting your
journey online. The importance of networking or reaching more people was
also emphasized as it can lead you to your success.
After the discussion, there were foods served in a buffet style. I
t
was also the time for communicating and getting to know some other
fellow freelancers. As expected, the question of what work do you
have/do online was asked to me and then I had the idea of discussing Steemit.
Glad that I did cause they were excited to know more about the site as
I told them that it was a blogging/writing flat form and that you can
earn from it (will discuss more about our conversation on my next post
:D). Gathering like this could really make you feel comfortable
discussing Steemit cause they already have backgrounds of the online
earning sites and they are open to opportunities. :)
We also have a loot bag from PayPal which includes a notebook, pen and a Gcash mastercard which was activated in the event as well.
