The most recent movie version showed a more detailed origin of the heroine compared to the older version. Correct me if I am wrong on this one cause as far as I could still remember the previous Wonder Woman movie, it was not that detailed on where she came from.
When I was watching the first part of this movie which is about the Amazons, I have learned more about the Amazons of the Greek mythology. I am familiar with Amazons (women warriors) but I am not fully aware where it was originated.
Overall the movie was entertaining for me. There were interesting/artistic fight scenes and scenic views. There were twist and thrills on this movie as well that are elements of movies that will make you want to watch it till the end to know the whole story.
The characters also were good on portraying their roles especially the Amazons with their neatly designed costumes and armors.
Learning More About the Amazons
In the Greek mythology, an Amazon was defined as part of a women tribe who are all warriors. It was mentioned that Amazons were the daughters of Ares (Greek God of war) and the Nymph of Akmonian wood, Harmonia. Described the women tribe as brutal as well as aggressive, and that the Amazons main concern in their lives was war.
In various movies and stories, the Amazon tribe consists purely of women and trained to be warriors when they grow up. That makes some to think of how the tribe was able to have their next generations. In Greek Mythology, it was mentioned that they are visiting a neighboring tribe to mate just for the sake of having children specifically for female babies. If it will be a baby boy, they will give it to that other tribe for adoption. The identity of the father is not revealed or known and so, it was just a random adaption.
