Lanzones: Delicious And Healthy Fruit

Describing my Favorite Fruit.

Most people will definitely love to eat fruits, not only because it is delicious and can ease hunger, but because of the healthy benefits of eating different types of fruits. As of for me, the fruit that I am always fond of eating is my all time favorite lanzones.

Even when I was a child, I used to eat lanzones on cinemas instead of pop corns or junk foods specially if we can see a lanzones vendor just near the cinema vicinity. Although some would not like it because there is a bitter sap on the fruit that you will definitely taste when you will taste your lips while eating and after eating the fruit. That is to me does not matter for I really like eating it. The sad thing or fact for lanzones lover like me is that the fruit is not so available the whole year. It is a seasonal fruit, usually from July to November you can see a lot of these fruit on any market and in much lower price compared to the months that there is so little production of the fruit.

In the Philippines, it is commonly cultivated in Laguna areas and in some part of Mindanao. Camiquin's one pride is their sweetest and most delicious lanzones that they even have a fiesta for it once a year. The fruit is colored light yellow and the meat is white to opaque white color. It can tastes so sweet depends on the variety of the tree or if its ripened enough. Some of these fruit are also taste sour and the seed tastes bitter when bitten.

Lanzones are said to be rich with different types of nutritional contents like protein, phosphorus, calcium, vitamin A, fiber, thiamine, vitamin C and anti-oxidants substances. It is also said that it is good to prevent diarrhea and some gastro intestinal diseases specially if consumed in a daily basis.
